I spent a night at the newish Ace Hotel in Chicago and liked it. The rooms feel more Scandi-industrial than Brooklyn/Portland hipster, which works here. It’s near great restaurants (Elske) and coffee (Sawada) and close enough to downtown. And as you would expect at an Ace, there are artisanal, effective cocktails in the lobby bar. There’s no Ace loyalty program; I used a Hotels.com free night credit that covered most of the cost of my room, and would probably book over there if I paid full price for it.
